Sneak peek of a traditional home in Westside Vancouver

This 4000 square feet luxurious home of a young entrepreneur family of three, is located in the heart of Quilchena in westside Vancouver. Here's the sneak peek of the home while under construction.

They always love traditional style. But this time they want to add a bit of modern touch to their new home.

In the living room, a traditional limestone fireplace is chosen.

However, they would like to have a more casual atmosphere in the family room. Therefore, here goes a modern fireplace with lots of built-in millwork.

A formal dining room is a must for this outgoing and welcoming family.

Fun violin-shaped wallpaper and built-in surround sound speakers in the home theatre.

Please stick with my blog as more photos of this lovely new home will be uploaded soon!

Vancouver Westside Condo Project

This 2 bedroom + den condo is located in Kerrisdale. The finished floor area is about 1100 square feet, which is a relatively spacious floor plan nowadays. This condo has been on the real estate market for few months. However, due to the irregular shape of the rooms and the long hallway, it makes the space appears to be very small, not so attractive to the buyers.

It was quite a challenge to plan the space. Let's take a look at the layout. The master bedroom is in an awkward shape. The first question that comes to your head " Where would my bed go??"
Then you walk to the living/dining/den, all in an open concept space, more and more questions come up... "where is the dining area?" , "What should I do with the fireplace against the window?", "Can I fit my sectional sofa here?" ...... this is getting more and more overwhelming!

Then I came up with this 3D virtual model to help the buyers to visualize how they could live in this space. It is always a bonus if you can have your home staged before putting it up on the real estate market. If you are on a limited budget, you can hire someone [or me :) ] to do a 3D virtual model like this. I will be posting more benefits about staging later. Let's look at the model now!

In the master bedroom, I have this seating area by the window to "hide" the odd corner space. The lighting above the bed creates a focal point, which to draws the attention away from the irregular-shaped bedroom. And I picked this crossed-legs nightstand to make the room look more airy and spacious.

The living room and den are divided by this low bookcase/console.  Furniture are group together to define the space. Some people might be concern about having a TV at the window. The key is to use the blackout fabric that could block the sunlight.

VIP Pre-Boxing Day Sale at Inspiration Furniture

While everyone is getting ready for Christmas, the finest modern furniture retailer Inspiration Furniture is doing a pre-boxing day sale event on 15th and 16th December. You receive 10% off on everything, which includes furniture! Please e-mail or message me for the coupon since this event is not advertised to the public. If you are planning to renovate your home or furnish your new home, Christmas would be the best time of the year to do so.

Here's a few item that I recommend at Inspiration.
The Emerald  by Cattelan Italia features a uniquely shaped mirror frame. Unlike the traditional mirror, it is shaped like a jewel. The whole frame is mirror glass which adds a dash of sparkle to the wall.

The Marta is an ideal coffee table for your living room. It is made with the movable bridging table in a high gloss creamy white. The little tray on top is made of oak or walnut veneer to match the finish of the table. Nice design and yet very functional.

West Elm - Transitional + Modern

It's been a while since I last updated my blog! I got a new job, and have been working on an interior design project for a client. The project is finally close to an end so I can start updating my blog again!

West Elm has opened in the South Granville area for about 2 months now. It is another affordable furniture store from the States. While CB2 has very modern contemporary furniture, West Elm has a selection from modern to transitional style furniture.

Here are a few pieces that I picked from West Elm which could make a nice transitional style bedroom.

Here's the modern side of West Elm. The Patchwork Dresser is one of my favourite piece in West Elm, I love the different shade of wood!

IDSWest 2012

It's been a while since I last updated my blog! I got a new job, and have been working on an interior design project for a client. The project is nearly finished so I finally got some time to start writing my blog again yay!

And today, I get to spare some time to go to IDSWest before work. It's not as crowd as I thought it would be.

Closest to the entrance is the General Paint x CB2 booth

Gorgeous lamp shade designed by Robyn Leitch, a local lighting designer.

My favourite of this year at IDSWest, Luminosa's outdoor radiant heater. It changes colour periodically.  Love the scale and form of it <3

The Birds Birds Birds designed by Ingo Maurer, which u can find at Informshop

 Me with the giant armchair

The bar decorated by boxes of Bocci lamp. I was so close to buying this Bocci 28d lamp...long story. Anyways, it was such a good deal. You can find it at Informshop for $495, but at the convention it's only $200 for a Bocci lamp!

I always love the name of this furniture store. "Once a Tree Furniture". Cute but kind of sad on the other side..

Hilarious Manga Plates by Mika Tsutai

I would ROFL if someone serves me food with these Manga plates, by Japanese artist Mika Tsutai.

More affordable accessories from CB2

This Perspective Mirror is one of my favourite from CB2. It is made of many small segments of mirror of different sizes and with different angles. The Perspective Mirror itself is like an art piece. You look at it from different angle gives you a different perception of the space.

Look at these cute little Teardrop Diamond Hanging Vases for less than $5! How adorable!

It's a nice idea to decorate your wall with a wall-mounted version of the Teardrop vase. It makes the wall more lively!
