Here's a few item that I recommend at Inspiration.

The Emerald  by Cattelan Italia features a uniquely shaped mirror frame. Unlike the traditional mirror, it is shaped like a jewel. The whole frame is mirror glass which adds a dash of sparkle to the wall. 

The Marta is an ideal coffee table for your living room. It is made with the movable bridging table in a high gloss creamy white. The little tray on top is made of oak or walnut veneer to match the finish of the table. Nice design and yet very functional.

West Elm - Transitional + Modern

It's been a while since I last updated my blog! I got a new job, and have been working on an interior design project for a client. The project is finally close to an end so I can start updating my blog again!

West Elm has opened in the South Granville area for about 2 months now. It is another affordable furniture store from the States. While CB2 has very modern contemporary furniture, West Elm has a selection from modern to transitional style furniture.

Here are a few pieces that I picked from West Elm which could make a nice transitional style bedroom.

IDSWest 2012

It's been a while since I last updated my blog! I got a new job, and have been working on an interior design project for a client. The project is nearly finished so I finally got some time to start writing my blog again yay! 

And today, I get to spare some time to go to IDSWest before work. It's not as crowd as I thought it would be.

 My favourite of this year at IDSWest, Luminosa's outdoor radiant heater. It changes colour periodically.  Love the scale and form of it <3

The bar decorated by boxes of Bocci lamp. I was so close to buying this Bocci 28d lamp...long story. Anyways, it was such a good deal. You can find it at Informshop for $495, but at the convention it's only $200 for a Bocci lamp!

I always love the name of this furniture store. "Once a Tree Furniture". Cute but kind of sad on the other side..

More affordable accessories from CB2

This Perspective Mirror is one of my favourite from CB2. It is made of many small segments of mirror of different sizes and with different angles. The Perspective Mirror itself is like an art piece. You look at it from different angle gives you a different perception of the space.

 

Look at these cute little Teardrop Diamond Hanging Vases for less than $5! How adorable!

It's a nice idea to decorate your wall with a wall-mounted version of the Teardrop vase. It makes the wall more lively!

CB2 by Crate & Barrel

While waiting for the new upcoming Crate & Barrel, why not pay a visit to their 12550 sq ft sister store CB2 on Robson St. 

Compare to Crate & Barrel, CB2's price tag is more friendly. Not everyone of us could afford a twenty grand Italian sofa. And we don't always want to shop at the "4-letter blue and yellow logo" huge self-help furniture store! At CB2 you can find something that has great design with a great price :)

I love the exaggerated proportion of the Banquina Chair's THICK FAT SEAT. I just want to sit on it! And I love the detail at the back and its crossed base

The Contact Stool is made of sustainable solid mango wood round swivels on a cast iron base. The burnt wax finish for a raw, welded industrial look.

Crate & Barrel in Vancouver

As you drive pass Oakridge Centre, there is a big construction going on next to White Spot. The old theatre is going to be replaced by Crate & Barrel. We are expecting to shop there by Christmas 2012! And this would be the first Crate & Barrel store in Vancouver! How exciting!

The price of their product are mid-high range. The Klyne Sectional Sofa appeared below would cost about $2500. The narrow arms of the sofa could make a very spacious interior. I find this piece would be perfect for apartment or condo as it provides a sleek contemporary design and cozy feeling.

This Petrie Sofa is also by Crate & Barrel. It has tufted and buttoned cushion for a more classic, retro 1960s design. But still, you can arrange it with other style of furniture to create a modern look. It comes in 18 different colours.

INTERIOR DESIGN TREND? MODERN!

Modern is definitely the trend. I say it is very "user-friendly". Let me put it this way, if you are going for a more luxurious high-end look, with the right materials and furniture design you can turn the space into a very luxurious and modern place. However, if you have a smaller budget, some modern furniture could be very affordable too!


This luxurious interior design by Yabu Pushelberg is an excellent example of bringing modern design to create a very stylish and expensive space. 

On the other hand, you can still create a nice and cozy modern design for your home with affordable price
